Burn Out Sunscreen Review

Burn Out Sunscreen does exactly the opposite of what the name says, in a good way. It currently has a 4.2 star rating on Amazon and carries the "Amazon Choice" badge. It obviously comes highly recommended by Amazon and other people, but is it truly biodegradable?

Item Specifics

Burn Out Sunscreen is a broad spectrum, biodegradable sunscreen. Biodegradable sunscreen is fairly self explanatory. Just like any other biodegradable product, the best biodegradable sunscreen is able to breakdown naturally into organic components. In terms of sunscreen, this happens after it is exposed to moisture, heat, and natural micro organisms. This makes the best biodegradable sunscreen very environmentally friendly because it minimizes the impact that the sunscreen has on plant and animal life. How do biodegradable sunblocks do this? Well, it is actually rather simple. The biggest difference between the best biodegradable sunscreen and regular sunscreens is the ingredients and chemicals that are used. More specifically, biodegradable sunscreens do not include environmentally harmful ingredients, some of which are hormone disrupters.

Ingredients

The ingredients is where Burn Out Sunscreen really takes the lead. While there are some not so natural, non active ingredients, there are no reef harming or environmental harmful chemicals or anything that could potentially harm you. But if you do not believe me, check out the total list of ingredients. Active Ingredient: Zinc Oxide (non-nano) 20%. Other Ingredients: Purified Water, Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Capric/ Caprylic Triglycerides, Sorbitan Stearate, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Cetyl Dimethicone, Magnesium Sulfate, Organic Avocado Oil*, Virgin Hemp Seed Oil, Organic Cucumber Extract*, Organic Green Tea Extract*, Tocopherols, Organic Pomegranate Juice*, Helionori, Hyaluronic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydrogenated Methyl Abiate, Polyaminopropyl Biguanide. Oh, by the way, the ingredients with the star by them, means they are certified organic.

As you can see, there are no harmful chemicals included in this sunscreen. Plus, the zinc oxide which is the only active ingredient, is in its non-nano form. This means that there is no risk to you or the marine wildlife. Not to mention that there are 5 certified organic ingredients here, which will provide countless benefits to your body.

Features

There are a lot of great features that Burn Out Sunscreen has. For starters, this biodegradable sunscreen covers a broad spectrum, which includes both UVA and UVB rays. This way you are protected for both types of solar rays, which is always great to have.

This sunscreen also has a pretty high SPF level. With 30 SPF, you will definitely not have to worry about getting burned quickly. Pair that with 80 minutes of water resistance, and you probably won't have to reapply it for a while. The worst thing is reapplying sunscreen when you are all wet and covered in sand.

Burn Out Sunscreen has some very beneficial ingredients. The formula is enriched with virgin Hemp Seed oil, aloe vera, and antioxidant vitamins to soothe and rejuvenate sun damaged skin.

It is also free of any harmful chemicals that could pose a risk to you or the environment. Burn Out Sunscreen is free of parabens, petroleum, and PABA, in addition to all the toxic chemicals that could bleach the coral.

About This Company

Burn Out Sunscreen and their products are developed by Environmental Scientist/ Surfer Kevin Dunn. After 14 years, he found that truly functional sunscreens just did not exist, and having a family history of skin cancer, he wanted to change that. He wanted to make a product that worked in the water, as well as it did outside. After a lot of work, and trial and error, Burn Out was born.

Now, they have a pretty wide selection of products to choose from. From gel and mineral sunscreens to after sun and SPF lip balms. Their mineral sunscreen line includes Face and Body, Ocean Tested, Eco Sensitive, Natural for Family, and Kids. All are made with the same natural and organic ingredients. All tested to be highly effective and safe for the environment.

Pros:

Burn Out Sunscreen has a natural formula with 5 certified organic ingredients. This formula is designed to not only protect your skin, but to be of some benefit to it as well.

Their sunscreen features a SPF level of 30 and broad spectrum protection. Pair that with a very high level of water resistance and you are good to go for a day at the bay, beach, or anywhere else.

It really works. Among most of the critical reviews, many said that it was effective, regardless of the issue they had. Plus it is designed to work both in and out of water.

Cons:

The top critical review, while did say that it worked, said that there was a really bad odor about 3 months in. There is really no explanation as to why this happened, it may have been because it was kept in a constantly warm environment, or the product expired, who knows.

Final Thoughts:

While there are a few reports of the product simply not working, they are very few. In the majority, people really like this product. Even the top rated critical review stated that it was very effective for them. If you do get burned, it probably means you need a stronger SPF or need to reapply more often. That being said, Burn Out Sunscreen seems to be an effective and biodegradable sunscreen through and through.
