Initial Thoughts

When it comes to peanut butter, there are a lot of options to choose from. Not all choices are the same. Many of the peanut butter products consumed are extremely high calorie and contain a large amount of fat and sugars. Sure, they taste great, but peanut butter can really expand the waistline. The key to healthy peanut butter is cutting the artificial ingredients, and finding all natural ingredients that are full of nutrients, specifically protein. NAKED Organic Peanut Butter has made a great tasting peanut butter using only the necessary ingredients

Ingredients

NAKED Organic Peanut Butter uses only the necessary ingredients needed to make any nut butter. Actually, less than is typically used. In this case, they only use organic peanuts and call it a day. No added sugar, no oils, no preservatives, not even salt is added. Because there are no extra ingredients, this product is gluten free, Non-GMO, and 100% vegan. So if you are looking for just the bare bones of peanut butter, this is the stuff for you!

Specifics

When looking at the nutritional facts for Teddie All Natural Peanut Butter, it looks all pretty much the same as most. You'll be getting 180 calories with 140 of them coming from fat. 15g of fat with 2.5g of saturated and no trans fats. Only 6g of carbs, with 2g of dietary fiber and 1g of sugar, which is natural from the peanuts. Couple those with 7g of protein and you are good to go. The biggest difference between this and other natural peanut butters is this does not include salt, like others do. Because of this, the oils do seem to separate more than other brands do. But mixing it will remedy that issue.

Organic Peanut Butter

The term "natural" is thrown around a lot when it comes to marketing and branding products. Unfortunately, there is not a whole lot of regulations or standards around that term. It is not like Organic, which has a seal certified by the USDA behind it to back up the claims. However, the natural world is not a barren wasteland. For a product to be labelled natural peanut butter, it has to contain 90% peanuts with no artificial sweeteners, colors, or preservatives. But that is pretty much it. Many natural peanut butter products still contain a bunch of stuff that you probably do not want in your body. So what does the best natural peanut butter actually have in it? Well peanuts of course, and a pinch of salt. That is it. Honestly, that is literally it. No oils, no sugars, so additives. Just peanuts and salt. A bit surprising right?

There are a lot of "natural" peanut butter products out there and most of the time you have to struggle with that weird separation of the oils from the butter. This is because they add various oils in the butter to give it that consistency and to make it easier to spread. And you will get this issue with the best natural peanut butter as well, but it will be rare. Truly natural peanut butter does have natural oils which may separate from the butter, but it will not be as much as when other oils are added.

Separation

Because of the nature of the ingredients in organic peanut butter, the product will separate. Without proper mixing, the peanut butter will be very oily and runny. It can be hard to spread and it may create a big mess. When you first open the jar, make sure to mix it thoroughly. Light separation may happen again, and additional stirring may be required. NAKED Organic Peanut Butter, like any other all-natural peanut butter, will also need to be refrigerated if you don’t plan on finishing it within a month of opening it. The oils that separate can go rancid. Be aware of this problem, especially if you live in a really warm place.

About This Company

Spread the Love was created by Valerie and Zachary Fishbain, in may of 2013 while they were planning their wedding. They wanted to give something pure, healthy, and made with love to their guests. So they made 160 small jars of homemade peanut butter as wedding favors. After the wedding, they started receiving special requests for more peanut butter, and this is how Spread the Love was created.

Now they have a wide selection of natural and organic peanut butters of all flavors and textures. But they now also have peanut butter's best friend, jam. All are made with 100% natural ingredients and most are also certified organic.

Pros:

NAKED Organic Peanut Butter plays no games. They only use dry roasted peanuts and salt. No additives, no preservatives, no added sugar, not even salt. only the stuff necessary for making peanut butter.

This peanut butter is entirely organic, vegan, GMO-free, Kosher, dairy free, and has no trans fats. Nothing has been added except for the most natural ingredients. Oh, and it is 100% made in the USA in small batches.

Cons:

The biggest issue with this brand of peanut butter is also it's selling point. While there is no salt or anything added, this also means that the oils will separate much more than with products with salt or even added oils.

In addition, the fact that there is only peanuts used here, means that the consistency is going to be far different than most are used to. Many have complained that it is nearly impossible to spread or even mix.

Final Thoughts:

While seeing only peanuts is really impressive, it can have a negative impact on the consistency of the peanut butter. However, if you get past that, it seems to be very delicious and even more healthy for you. Zero cholesterol and zero sodium, meaning there is absolutely nothing bad in this product. Truly awesome and impressive that they could do this.
